Katrina Benson

Exhibiting since 1998, Benson maintains an active studio practice alongside 25 years of teaching art and is currently preparing work for the Brisbane and Melbourne Affordable Art Fairs.

The Work

Working with oils on both linen and paper, where layered colour, texture, and gesture are used to create richly nuanced abstract compositions that reward slow and sustained viewing.

The Process

Abstract paintings evolve through an intuitive, responsive process—guided by memory, observation, and material experimentation—allowing each work to develop organically through layers, revision, and discovery.
